That time I was published on the Atlantic’s webpage came as a shock. I had been doing illustrations off and on using Photoshop and Illustrator on a laptop, it was a clunky way to make digital art but I ended up responding on a whim to an advertisement for an illustrator/designer for an online publication called Sapiens.com.

I did this piece based on an early copy of an article they provided me on man’s discovery/development of fire and it somehow got picked up by the Atlantic’s Science desk and published to a worldwide audience.
