The purpose of this project was to design low waste/cost packaging for a non-profit. I found out about an agricultural organization that encourages kids to take an interest in farming and growing food.

I decided to limit my design to one 8.5×11 sheet of paper and use recycled egg carton packaging to hold the contents of my product. For a single sheet of paper, I created a label encouraging students to take one of the seed kits, a set of instructions for use, a package for seeds, and a label touting the virtues of the spoon as a digging device.
My end goal was to recycle spoons and egg cartons, limit the use of materials to substances other than plastic, and create an entertaining and engaging way of encouraging kids to try creating their own garden at home.

My sketches show my preliminary ideas for different parts of the packaging.
