My love of reading was one of my first introductions to the world of book cover design. The variety of designs and types of individuals who participate in this valuable design space provides an accurate view of the cross section of skills and talents available in the design world.

My book covers always start out as sketches. For Portals and The Curious Evening Habit of Lucero Feurborne, I wanted to do illustrations that might look like they have been pulled from a copper plate print. In order to achieve something close to that affect I drew each cover out with a black ball point pen, did a high resolution scan of each image, and then worked in Illustrator, Photoshop and Affinity Designer to produce the typography and layouts.
